With major testing and design problems, the stealthy F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, once planned to cost just $50 million in 2002 dollars, has now doubled in price. And that number will only rise, according to Bill Sweetman. “We haven’t heard the full story on JSF overruns.” And the rising cost could drive away customers, decreasing the production run and further escalating the unit price. “Welcome to the death spiral,” Sweetman wrote.
