Why does America fight? Throughout history, presidents have taken their case for military action to the public. On Monday, it was President Obama’s turn, as he made his pitch for the intervention in Libya. “Some nations may be able to turn a blind eye to atrocities in other countries,” he declared at the National Defense University. “The United States is different. And as president, I refused to wait for the images of slaughter and mass graves before taking action.”
