Pakistan Agrees To Open Supply Lines After U.S. Apology -- Washington Post

Pakistan has agreed to open its border crossings to U.S. and NATO military transit to and from Afghanistan, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said in a statement Tuesday, ending a seven-month diplomatic standoff.

In a conversation Tuesday morning with Pakistan’s foreign minister, Clinton said, she again offered “our sincere condolences to the families” of 24 Pakistani soldiers who were killed in a cross-border U.S. air assault in November.

“We are sorry for the losses suffered by the Pakistani military,” she said. “We are committed to working closely with Pakistan and Afghanistan to prevent this from ever happening again.”
