War is a dirty word in Afghanistan. Mention it to a room full of American and British generals and you can expect frowns and the vigorous shaking of heads. At times it feels as though spin doctors have secretly infiltrated every coalition base, eliminated the commanders and put on their uniforms.
Instead of “offensives” and “assaults”, America and its allies now speak of war through euphemisms such as “activities”, “ongoing process” or “restoring order”. Operations are no longer called “Anaconda” or “Mountain Fury”, but “Together” and “Co-operation”. Detainees have ceased to be terrorists but misguided youths in need of an education and some vocational training.

My Comment: On June 7 of this month, the Afghanistan conflict will become America's longest war. Are Americans tired of this conflict ....from my vantage point I think they have been tired of this conflict for a very long time. With mixed signals coming from Washington .... coupled with a weak, corrupt and ineffective Afghan Government .... I know that my own patience on this war passed the breaking point a long time ago.
