Afghan President Karzai's Move To Delay Parliament Opening Causes U.N. 'Concern' -- Washington Post

KABUL - The United Nations voiced its "deep concern and surprise" Friday over Afghan President Hamid Karzai's decision to delay the opening session of the country's new parliament by a month.

The world body said in a statement that it, the European Union, the United States, Canada "and other concerned members of the international community continue to support a reasonable, enduring and peaceful resolution to this issue . . . so that parliament can convene as soon as possible."
